Subject: New BEACON Mobile App for Unemployment Insurance Claimants

Unemployment Insurance Claimant:

The Maryland Department of Labor's Division of Unemployment Insurance is excited to announce the new BEACON mobile app called “MD Unemployment for Claimants” is now available to download for free from the iOS App Store or Google Play Store. The mobile app allows you to easily file your weekly claim certification for benefit payment and view and update claimant information directly from your mobile device.

To download the app in the iOS App Store, please visit https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id1509526247. To download the app in the Google Play Store, please visit https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gov.maryland.ui.claimant.

Once you have downloaded and installed the app on your mobile device, login using the same username and password that you use to access the BEACON One-Stop portal.

If you have not activated your account on the BEACON One-Stop portal, you must do so before logging into the new app. To activate your account, click on the BEACON site hyperlink on the login screen. The BEACON One-Stop web portal will open in your browser. Click the “Get Started with BEACON One-Stop” link and follow the steps to complete your account activation. Once you have successfully activated your account, you may use the same username and password to log in to the mobile app.

Additional features available in the new app include the ability for claimants to:

  • Update tax withholding details
  • View payment history details
  • Download digital copies of correspondences
  • Modify communication preferences
  • Receive important messages and notifications
  • View and update their physical and mailing address

Please note that the mobile app supports the latest Android/iOS versions released by Google and Apple (i.e., Android 10 and iOS 13). It also supports previous versions, such as Android Pie or 9 and iOS 12. For technical concerns or questions, please contact Beacon.Support@Maryland.gov.
