As part of her Take a Look With Brooke Tour, Comptroller Brooke Lierman will begin her tour of St. Mary’s County Monday afternoon meeting with the St. Mary’s County Commissioners to talk about her first eight months on the job, actions taken as a member of the Board of Public Works, and her taxpayer advocate legislation. The Comptroller will hear from the commissioners about their priorities and ways to build partnerships between the agency and the county. James R. Guy is the county commission president.
Next, she will tour businesses in Leonardtown Square with St. Mary’s County Arts Council President and Maryland State Arts Council Liaison Barbara Bershon. The Comptroller will stop by The Rex, owned by Joe Kurley, which is a theater for big band performances, comedy, wrestling, boxing, and other entertainment. She then will visit Williams, McClernan & Stack LLC, a woman-owned law firm since 2018 practicing family law, criminal law, estate planning, and administration.
Comptroller Lierman then will take part in a discussion of the revitalization of Lexington Park at St. Mary’s County Health Hub – Lexington Park. The Comptroller will be joined by Magdalen Cherra, owner of N&N Oriental Market and Carry-Out; Taylor Smith, executive director of St. Mary’s County Community Development Corp.; Chris Kaselemis, St. Mary’s County director of Economic Development; and Dr. Meenakshi G. Brewster, St. Mary’s County Health Officer, and others.
The Comptroller will wrap up at the St. Mary’s County Regional Airport with a tour of AIRtec, Inc., an international commercial airborne services company. The firm integrates cutting-edge technology and sensors on commercial platforms for airborne surveillance and science customers. Tom Jarboe is the owner. The Comptroller will meet with the AIRtec’s executives as well as representatives from the St. Mary’s County Chamber of Commerce, AVIAN, Adkinson Aviation, Piedmont Flight School, RCS Services and Naval Systems Inc.
On the Take a Look with Brooke Tours, Comptroller Lierman visits towns and communities throughout the state to learn more about the people, businesses, and community leaders who make Maryland a great place to live and work. On these tours, the Comptroller has the opportunity to see cutting-edge technologies, to talk with local entrepreneurs to take the pulse of the local economy, and to highlight places that contribute to a region’s quality of life.
