On the 10th stop of her “Branching Out” tour of agency Branch Offices, Comptroller Brooke Lierman will tour the Waldorf Branch Office today, July 25th. While in Charles County, the Comptroller will meet with business community leaders to gain insight into their visionary ideas and enterprises and update them on the agency's initiatives.
Comptroller Lierman will begin the day by briefing the Charles County Commissioners about her first six months on the job, actions taken as a member of the Board of Public Works and her taxpayer advocate legislation. Ruben B. Collins II, Esq. is the commission president.
Next, the Comptroller will stop by the Waldorf Branch Office to meet and talk to staff and to greet taxpayers seeking assistance with their tax filings. Ramona Bowen is the branch manager.
In the afternoon, Comptroller Lierman and State Sen. Arthur Ellis, D-28, will tour the facility of the U.S. Bomb Technician Association with President and CEO Sean Dennis. The association is a nonprofit charity focused on the needs of bomb disposal technicians. Headquartered in Denver, Colo., with an office in Indian Head, the association was created to address gaps in training, education, and funding within the bomb disposal community.
The next stop will be at the Southern Maryland Blue Crab Stadium/Regency Furniture Stadium with principal owner, John “Jack” Lavoie. The Regency Furniture Stadium, which opened in 2008, is home to the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs of the Atlantic League, which is affiliated with a Major League team. The ballpark has hosted more than 900 games, concerts, tournaments and other events.
The third business visit will be at Suber & Company ̶ a veteran, woman and minority-owned business that provides consulting services and office solutions to help organizations run more efficiently and productively. The business has played a key role in launching and expanding hundreds of small businesses and organizations. The owner is Natasha Suber Perry.
For the final stop, Comptroller Lierman will hold a wrap-up session at Copper Compass Distillery in White Plains. The Copper Compass offers a variety of rums and artisanal cocktails. Herb Banks and April Toyer are the founders.
