On the ninth stop of her “Branching Out” tour of Comptroller Branch Offices, Comptroller Brooke Lierman will tour the Frederick Branch Office today, June 20. While in Frederick County, Comptroller Lierman will meet business and elected leaders and community stakeholders to gain insight into their visionary ideas and enterprises and update them on her legislative victories.
At a luncheon meeting, the Comptroller will speak to members of the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce about her first six months on the job, actions taken as a member of the Board of Public Works and her taxpayer advocate legislation. Frederick Mayor Michael O'Connor will attend. Rick Weldon is the chamber’s president and CEO.
After lunch, Kara Norman, executive director of Downtown Frederick Partnership, will lead the Comptroller on a walking tour of three local businesses: The Kitchenette, owned by Marien Hornya; Surelocked In Escape Games, owned by Chris Sparks; and In Bloom Jewelry, owned by Stacey Krantz.
Next, the Comptroller the will stop by the Frederick Branch Office, where she will talk with staff and taxpayers seeking assistance with their tax filings. Jena Rizziello is the branch manager.
The Comptroller then will join Frederick County Executive Jessica Fitzwater on a tour of STULZ Air Technology Systems Inc. with Marketing Manager Lane Gregory. STULZ manufactures a full-line of air conditioners, air handlers, humidifiers and other related products. A German-owned company since 1947, the facility in Frederick is the base of its U.S. operation.
Afterward, Comptroller Lierman will tour McClintock Distilling, which uses organic grains milled in-house by an antique stone burr mill to produce its whiskeys. Braeden Bumpers and Tyler Hegamyer are the distillery's partners. The Comptroller then will join community stakeholders, business and elected leaders at a wrap-up session at the distillery.
In the evening, the Comptroller will speak to the Frederick County Council and outline her role as Comptroller and goals for the agency.
