Comptroller Lierman to Visit Salisbury Staff, Job Skills Training Centers and Salisbury University on April 12

Tour to end with community gathering at Evolution Craft Brewing

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (April 10, 2023) - On the fifth stop of her statewide tour of Comptroller’s Branch Offices, Comptroller Brooke Lierman will begin her day, Wednesday, April 12, with a morning visit to the Salisbury Branch Office and Salisbury Call Center. Her day-long visit to the city also will include conversations with business and elected leaders, along with community stakeholders, to gain insight into their visionary ideas and enterprises.

Comptroller Lierman will meet with staff at the Comptroller’s Salisbury offices and talk with taxpayers seeking assistance with their tax filings. Sue Littleton is the acting manager for the office, and Laura Shriner is the call center manager.

She will then tour three training centers led by Bill Chambers, President and CEO of the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce. The stops will include:

  • Pohanka Automotive Training Center, with Sandy Fitzgerald-Angello, Vice President/Dealer Operator Pohanka Automotive Group of Salisbury and Shore Insurance Agency.
  • Arcon Training Center, with Katarina Ennerfelt, CEO of both Arcon Training Center and Toroid Corporation.
  • Perdue Henson Junior Achievement Center with Jayme Hayes, President of Junior Achievement of the Eastern Shore.

At Pohanka, students train for a career as a Certified Automotive Technician in the transportation and automobile industry. At Arcon, students receive basic safety training for onshore and offshore wind projects. Courses in welding and metal fabrication also are available. When it opens this fall, the Perdue Henson Center will attract 10,000 students to teach them about financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship.

In the afternoon, Comptroller Lierman will tour Salisbury University with President Carolyn Ringer Lepre. Dr. Lepre became president in July 2022. The tour will begin in front of Holloway Hall.
