Comptroller Franchot to Present Final Schaefer Helping People Award in Carroll County on Wednesday

Taneytown native tackles men's eating disorders

WHAT:

Comptroller Franchot will present the 2021 William Donald Schaefer Helping People Award for Carroll County to William Hornby, who overcame his own struggles with food and appearance to raise awareness about men's eating disorders. The Taneytown native holds public speaking engagements and utilizes a large social media following to highlight warning signs and share recovery tips. He is involved with several national organizations that advocates for people with eating disorders.

Afterwards, the Comptroller will stop by Brewery Fire to present a proclamation in recognition of the business' third anniversary. Co-owners Dave Palmer and Jesse Johnson have built a strong following with beers and decor inspired by science fiction and fantasy references.
