Comptroller to Present Queen Anne's County Schaefer Award Thursday

Franchot will also visit Talbot Humane to recognize 90 years of rescuing, rehoming animals throughout the Mid-Shore

WHO:

Comptroller Peter Franchot

WHAT:

En route to the annual Maryland Association of Counties (MACo) Summer Conference, Comptroller Franchot will present the 2021 William Donald Schaefer Helping People Award for Queen Anne's County to Not My Child QAC 2.0. In 2017, Anthony Reno started the organization after losing his son to an opioid overdose. Since then, Not My Child has raised awareness in hopes of preventing more young people from succumbing to opioid addiction. They hold annual fundraisers to support COMPASS, a grief services agency, and Camp New Dawn, a grief retreat for families of overdose victims.

Next, Mr. Franchot will stop at Talbot Humane in Easton to present a proclamation to Director Patty Crankshaw-Quimby, honoring the organization's 90th anniversary rescuing and rehoming animals.

He will then head to the MACo Conference in Ocean City, to join local and state elected officials at the annual Taste of Maryland Reception. The event showcases the finest food and beverages from every corner of the state, celebrating Maryland's agritourism and hospitality industries.
