State's chief motor fuel regulator will also visit gas stations today
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (March 18, 2022) — Comptroller Peter Franchot will host a media availability around 2:30 p.m. today to discuss the implementation of the gas tax holiday.
The session will take place in the Assembly Room at the Louis L. Goldstein Treasury Building approximately 30 minutes after the Governor signs the gas tax holiday legislation into law, which is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Deputy Comptroller Andrew Schaufele and Field Enforcement Division Director Chuck Ulm will join Comptroller Franchot to answer any questions about the implementation of the gas tax holiday.
Immediately following the media availability, Comptroller Franchot will travel to Eastport Shell, located at 335 6th Street in Annapolis – about one-half mile from the State House. Media are invited to join the Comptroller as he thanks station owner Ehtsham Zia.
The Comptroller’s Office has been working with industry partners, including the Mid-Atlantic Petroleum Distributors Association (MAPDA) and the Washington, Maryland, Delaware Service Station and Automotive Repair Assocation, (WMDA), to quickly implement the law once it takes effect so consumers realize the savings as soon as possible.
Comptroller Franchot will also visit a Shell station at 10201 New Hampshire Ave. in Silver Spring at 5 p.m. The station is one of 274 locations owned by the Petroleum Marketing Group (PMG), which can host media who are covering this story at any of their locations throughout Maryland.
