Comptroller Franchot on Friday morning will tour The Light House in Annapolis and present a proclamation to staff and volunteers for their support of Anne Arundel County's homeless community since 1989.
The organization now includes five transitional living properties, an employment training program, a social enterprise, and a variety of support services. The center moved to its current 24,000-square-foot facility on Hudson Street in 2010. From originally serving 15 residential clients at its opening, it now serves roughly 2,000 community members each year.
Afterward, the Comptroller will head to Light House Bistro to present a proclamation to Director Beth Rocca and Restaurant Manager Ronniece Johnson. The Bistro, which formerly housed the shelter, opened in 2017 as a social enterprise to help train and provide living wage employment for graduates of the shelter's workforce development programs as they move towards self-sufficiency.
Open Wednesday through Sunday with a brunch menu of mouthwatering classics and healthy alternatives, Light House Bistro serves the community by creating a warm, fun atmosphere where people can gather to eat, drink and give back to the community.
