Comptroller Peter Franchot today will hold his annual Ocean City Boardwalk stroll to patronize several longstanding businesses and present proclamations in recognition of serving generations of beachgoers for decades.
The tour will begin at King's Cotton Candy Stand, a family-owned business that has sold sweet, carnival-inspired treats for 77 years. Owner Dan King is the third generation of his family to run the business and his wife and children often work the concession stand on busy days.
Mr. Franchot will then make customary visits to a pair of boardwalk institutions, Thrasher's French Fries and Marty's Playland. No trip to the beach is complete without a bucket of piping hot fries drizzled with vinegar and a few games of skeeball.
Lastly, the Comptroller will swing by Dumser's Dariyland to present a proclamation to owner Don Timmons in recognition of this nostalgic business serving fresh, homemade ice cream to generations of customers since 1939. Dumser’s now has seven locations throughout Ocean City.
