Comptroller Franchot Virtually Presents Schaefer Award to Debbie Williams of Frederick County
The Patty Pollatos Fund easies financial burdens of cancer patients and their families
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (October 5, 2020) - Comptroller Peter Franchot virtually presented the Frederick County William Donald Schaefer Helping People Award to Debbie Williams. Ms. Williams accepted the award honoring her work creating and managing the Patty Pollatos Fund (PPF) for the past 27 years.
"It's an honor to recognize Debbie for creating this wonderful organization in her friend's memory," said Comptroller Franchot. "Financially insecure families can experience catastrophic medical expenses when facing illness. Debbie and her volunteers with Patty Pollatos Fund have raised millions of dollars to help their fellow citizens in Frederick County. She embodies the principles held dear by William Donald Schaefer, the late Baltimore mayor, governor and comptroller and I wish her happiness in her well-deserved retirement."
The annual PPF fundraiser Fun-omemon, held each year at the Frederick Fairgrounds with headliners like Jo Dee Messina, took its final bow last August. The yearly PPF car raffle with sponsor Criswell Auto is still taking place virtually for those that would like to participate.
