Mr. Franchot begins his Harford tour in Bel Air, where he will stop at Jones Junction to present a proclamation to owner Brian Kilby recognizing the 103rd anniversary of the family-owned automotive business. Founded by C.M. Jones in 1917, the business has continued to flourish with 10 dealerships and nearly 700 employees.
Next, the Comptroller heads to Conrad's Crabs and Seafood Market to meet owner and waterman Tony Conrad, and thank him for his Oyster Recovery Partnership (ORP) efforts and his participation in the Shell Recycling Alliance. The ORP is the nation's largest shell recycling network, annually collecting 33,000 bushels of shells. Recycled shells foment the growth of young oyster populations, resulting in a healthier Chesapeake Bay while providing a tax break to businesses and individuals.
