Franchot To Tour Hyattsville Middle School, Recognize Local Coffee Roaster

"Coffee with the Comptroller" chat session to follow at Vigilante Coffee

WHO:

Comptroller Peter Franchot

WHAT:

Comptroller Franchot will tour Hyattsville Middle School this morning to talk to students in the Creative and Performing Arts program, which includes media arts, theater lab, creative writing, band, orchestra, chorus, visual arts and dance. Hyattsville Middle is one of three Prince George's County middle schools that require students to audition for that program. Assistant Principal Philip Tazi will lead the tour.

In the afternoon, Mr. Franchot will present a proclamation to General Manager Andy Doyle of Vigilante Coffee Company for the business taking fifth place in the Comptroller’s “Best Coffee in Maryland” Facebook survey. Vigilante Coffee is owned by Chris Vigilante, who established his first permanent roastery and café in Hyattsville in 2014. He opened a second store in College Park in 2018.

Following the presentation, Franchot will host a "Coffee with the Comptroller" chat session, in which members of the public can learn about ongoing agency initiatives and ask questions on a wide range of topics.
