As part of Small Business Saturday today, Mr. Franchot will swing by Fair Day's Play in his hometown of Takoma Park. The visit is the latest stop on the Comptroller's Shop Maryland for the Holidays tour to encourage shoppers to buy local this holiday season.
At Fair Day's Play, he'll present a proclamation to owner Lisa Ripkin for more than a decade of contributing to the local economy by selling high-quality, educational toys that stimulate children's minds and engage their creative sides. Fair Day's Play is one of the few independent toy stores remaining in the region.
