Take the Buy Local Challenge! Buy Local Week 2025 is July 17-27
Westminster, MD, Wednesday, July 16, 2025 – Carroll County Economic Development is excited to join the Maryland Department of Agriculture and Southern Maryland Agricultural Development Commission to celebrate the Maryland Buy local Challenge Buy Local Week, planned for July 17-27, 2025. Carroll County is joining others in challenging all to make the commitment to enjoy one local product every day during this time.
Why Buy Local? Buying local is good for you, good for the local economy and good for the planet! Spending locally with farms and other makers helps you get products that are fresher and have traveled much shorter distances overall from farm to fork. Plus, you're supporting independent family farms and local businesses which helps strengthen the local economy. Now more than ever, it's important to show support for your local farms. Shop at Carroll County farms, farm stands, farmers markets, wineries, grocers and markets that stock genuine local products. The department will donate a branded swag bag to participating county farmers markets during this event.
This time is also a great opportunity to join or continue exploring the 2025 Carroll County Agritourism Passport! This initiative celebrates Carroll County’s rich agricultural heritage by encouraging families, friends and individuals to visit participating farms, agribusinesses and agricultural events from June to October throughout Carroll County. Passports are available at each participating location and the Carroll County Visitors Center, located at the Carroll County Farm Museum.
