Local COVID-19 Testing Site Schedule Change – No Testing on Labor Day Weekend

Westminster, MD (September 1, 2020) – The COVID-19 testing site run by the Carroll County

Health Department at the Carroll County Agricultural Center will not offer testing on Sunday, September 6th, due to the Labor Day weekend. Testing will resume on Tuesday, September 8th. Testing is held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays from 9 a.m. – 12 noon.

You must have an appointment to get tested at the Ag Center site. It is best to work with your health care provider to schedule a test, but you can also use the Health Department’s testing page and complete the request for testing form: https://cchd.maryland.gov/covid-19-testing-in-carroll-county/

For more testing locations in Maryland, visit the Maryland Department of Health’s testing page: https://coronavirus.maryland.gov/pages/symptoms-testing

The Health Department’s testing site offers a diagnostic PCR test that shows if you have a current COVID-19 infection. These tests are highly accurate but may take a few days to get results. Rapid tests are available in a few locations, but may not be as accurate; if you test negative with a rapid test, you may need to retest with a PCR test to confirm. Antibody tests show if you were exposed to the virus in the past.

People who need tests for travel, work, school, or other activities should check to make sure what kind of test is acceptable. People who are getting tested because they may have been exposed to COVID-19 should be aware that it can take 2-14 days for an infection to develop, which is why you need to quarantine if exposed. A negative test does not mean you can stop taking precautions and end quarantine early.

For questions or issues accessing testing, call the Health Department’s COVID-19 Call Center at 410-876-4848, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
