Status of Ballots

Westminster, MD (May 18, 2020)- The Governor of Maryland issued a proclamation that Maryland have a by-mail Presidential Primary Election with limited in-person voting on June 2. Carroll County voters began receiving ballots on Thursday, May 7. Some voters have not received their ballot yet, but should have it by Saturday, May 23. If a voter has not gotten their ballot yet, the status of their ballot can be checked at https://voterservices.elections.maryland.gov/VoterSearch or by calling the office at (410)386-2864.

Voters can mail their ballot or put it in a drop box. Mailed ballots do not require return postage if the voter uses the envelope that was sent to them. Drop boxes will be available 24/7 beginning at 7am on Thursday, May 21 at the Westminster Senior Center (125 Stoner Avenue Westminster), Robert Moton Center, Board of Elections Office (300 S Center Street, Westminster), and the South Carroll Swim Club (1900 W Liberty Road, Westminster). Drop boxes will be locked at 8pm on Tuesday, June 2. Ballots are being picked up from the post office multiple times per day. Ballots will be removed from the drop boxes multiple times per day.

Limited in-person voting will be available for those who are unable to vote by mail on Tuesday, June 2 from 7am-8pm at the Westminster Senior Center and South Carroll Swim Club. All CDC guidelines regarding social distancing will be followed and there will be line management.

Masks and hand sanitizer will be offered to all voters. Same Day Registration will be available for people who have not yet registered to vote. It is important to follow the Governor’s advice to vote your ballot in the mail, if possible.

Voters can check to see if the Board of Elections received their ballot at: https://voterservices.elections.maryland.gov/VoterSearch . Counting of the ballots will begin on Thursday, May 21 at 9am. More information is available at: https://elections.carrollcountymd.gov/canvassinfo.aspx .
