 Carroll County Small Business Updatee
Westminster, MD, Thursday, June 13, 2019 - Today, during Open Session, the Carroll County Department of Economic Development presented the Carroll County Board of Commissioners (BOC) with a funding plan to integrate small business start-up and growth with economic development at a county level, including funding levels for the county’s small business partners.
The BOC, Economic Development, Carroll Community College, Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and other community partners worked to forge a stronger entrepreneurial ecosystem during this current fiscal year. Together, partners made gains in small business services promotion, counseling, events and youth engagement. In FY 20, the county’s small business delivery system will further integrate small business start-up and growth with economic development at the county level. To maximize SBDC resources and services, the Carroll County SBDC counselor will relocate to the Economic Development office effective July 1.
Today, the BOC voted to approve FY 20 $215,000 previously-budgeted entrepreneurship funding in the following way:
Miller Center at Carroll Community College $110,000 Carroll County Economic Development 22,000 Small Business Development Center 58,000 Chamber of Commerce 10,000 Carroll Technology Council 7,500 Mid-Atlantic Gigabit Innovation Collaboratory (MAGIC) 7,500 Total $215,000
Open session is available for viewing on the county meeting portal and the county YouTube channel. In addition, all meetings will be replayed on Comcast Channel 24.
