I’ll Take Some Entrepreneurship with that Coffee
WESTMINSTER, MD, Tuesday, October 30, 2018 – Today, Commissioner Doug Howard and Commissioner Dennis Frazier held a joint event “Coffee with Commissioners”, meeting with several local organizations involved with entrepreneurial activities in Carroll County to discuss small business initiatives in the county.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss county entrepreneurship activities with a broad group of involved parties. Some of the topics included updates on the work being done by the Miller - Resources for Entrepreneurs at Carroll Community College, expectations of coordination at the local level, and the new shared and collaborative small business calendar featured on the Department of Economic Development’s website. The group also discussed the importance of capturing the success stories, ways to increase collaboration and the goals of the programs moving forward.
Each of the attendees had an opportunity to share their organization’s roles and activities in the small business network. Participants included: representatives from Miller, Carroll Community College, Carroll County Chamber of Commerce, Carroll County Department of Economic Development, Carroll Tech Council, Carroll County Public Library, SCORE, Mid-Atlantic Gigabit Innovation Collaboratory (MAGIC) and the Carroll Business Network.
Commissioner Howard, District 5, said, “Entrepreneurship is a critical piece of the county’s economic development goals and objectives. An active and coordinated entrepreneurial ecosystem opens the door for new business start-ups and helps our existing small businesses to grow.”
