Commissioners Proclaim Constitution Week
Thursday, September 20, 2018~ The Board of Carroll County Commissioners recognized Constitution Week in open session today. Attending were Mr. James Engler and Mr. Don Warner.
It
is important that all citizens fully understand the provisions, principles and
meaning of the Constitution so they can support, preserve and defend it against
encroachment. Constitution Week provides an opportunity for
all Americans to learn about and reflect upon the rights and privileges of
citizenship and its responsibilities.
September
17, 2018 marked the two hundred and thirty-first anniversary of the signing of
the Constitution of the United States by our Nation’s founders. he
Congress, by joint resolution of February 29, 1952 designated September 17 as “Citizenship
Day” and by joint resolution of August 2, 1956 requested that the President
proclaim the week beginning September 17 and ending September 23 of each year
as “Constitution Week” and it is fitting to accord official county recognition
to this important anniversary.
