Aging in Place Event
Westminster, MD, Tuesday, May 1, 2018 – Carroll County Bureau of Aging & Disabilities invites citizens to an event on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 entitled “Aging in Place Update”. Diane Martin, PhD, Director of the Center for the Study of Aging at McDaniel College will make the presentation. The event will be held at the Forum-Decker College Center at McDaniel College from 5pm-7pm.
The Bureau of Aging & Disabilities and Commission on Aging & Disabilities partnered with the Center for the Study of Aging at McDaniel College to assess Aging in Place infrastructure and needs in Carroll County. County residents were surveyed during the past four years to gauge the need and desire for aging initiatives in the county. The event will highlight the survey results and discuss how aging in place promotes optimal aging through independence, control and happiness. Aging in Place is defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as "the ability to live in one’s own home and community safely, independently, and comfortably, regardless of age, income, or ability level.”
Doors open at 4:30 pm with the formal presentation beginning at 5:00 pm. Light appetizers will be served prior to the presentation. Admission is free but registration is required. Please go to https://mdc-event.sparksites.io/event/54112 to register.
