Emergency Water Main Repair at Sykesville Apartments on Village Road

Sykesville, MD, Friday, January 5, 2018 – The Carroll County Bureau of Utilities has shut down water service to the Sykesville Apartments on Village Road to do an emergency water main repair. Apartments in nine buildings located at the following addresses on Village Rd. 7400, 7401, 7403, 7405, 7407, 7409, 7410, 7417 and 7418 will be without water service until repairs are complete.

Water service was shut off at 1:30 pm so that emergency crews could make repairs to the water line. We anticipate water to be off for approximately four hours barring any unforeseen circumstances. Bureau of Utilities has experienced several water main breaks recently due to the extreme cold. Please be patient as our staff and contractor are working diligently to restore service in very difficult conditions.

Once full service is restored residents may experience cloudy water lasting up to an hour. Turning the cold water tap on and running water for several minutes will clear the lines. It is advisable to refrain from using high water volume appliances such as washing machines, dishwashers, etc., during periods of cloudy water or low pressure.

If you have any questions please call the Bureau of Utilities office at 410-386-2164.
