Groundbreaking Ceremony – Solar Array Project
Carroll Community College
October 12, 2016 – A groundbreaking ceremony for Carroll’s first Solar Array project will be held on
Thursday, October 27th at 2 p.m. on the lawn by the Great Hall at Carroll Community College located
at 1601 Washington Road, Westminster, MD 21157.
The county will begin construction of its first Solar Array this fall and it will begin generating clean,
green energy early next year. This is the first of three sites to house a solar array. In addition to the
Carroll Community College, the county plans to use a portion of the properties at the Hampstead
Wastewater Treatment plant and the Hoods Mill Landfill for the additional solar arrays.
“I believe this a great first step by the county to cut energy costs using solar power. We will save over
half a million dollars a year of taxpayer money, and that's at today's rates,” said Commissioner Dennis
Frazier. “Please join us for the groundbreaking ceremony.”
