“A Monumental Occasion”

Annual Lighting of the Washington Monument

 

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists of the temporary road closures which will be implemented for the annual lighting of the Washington Monument.  The event will be held on Thursday, December 04, 2014, rain or shine.  Festivities in the historic Mount Vernon district will start at 5:30 p.m. 

 

In preparation for the event, the following streets will be closed to through traffic on Thursday, December 04, 2014 with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • West Mt. Vernon Place from Charles to Cathedral Streets - 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • East Mt. Vernon Place from Charles to St. Paul Streets - 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • East side of North Charles Street from Centre to Madison Streets - 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • West side of North Charles Street from Centre to Madison Streets - 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 03, 2014 through 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 04, 2014

 

 

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians attending the event and are strongly encouraged to use alternate routes.
