Our utility operators support a major construction, repair or excavating project. The job entails maneuvering heavy equipment in rugged terrain. Workers must exhibit a high degree of stamina and keen mechanical abilities to excel in this field. Essentially, utility operators prepare a designated site for building or drilling. Utility Operators will also need a basic understanding of electronics in order to operate many of the new vehicles designed with electronic controls. Must be able to work outdoors on location in all weather conditions and on all terrain. Depending on project, you may they may be expected to work evenings, weekends, or swing shifts. May have to drive trucks that transport a variety of heavy building materials or operate machines that dig trenches, excavate construction sites or lift heavy equipment. High school diploma, some college desired. At least one year of experience working with incarcerated persons is preferred. Must be able to supervise groups of adult males. Writing and verbal skills are necessary. Valid Maryland driver’s license is required with no points. Must successfully pass a criminal background investigation and a drug test. $12.00 per hour with salary increases based upon adequate funding.
