Dear Leaders,
A new school year begins
on Monday and our entire city should be oozing with excitement. However, that
is hardly the case for far too many families and communities. Unfortunately, we
are burying and mourning young people who should be preparing to embark on a
new school year. As a city it is imperative that we stand up and be accountable
for a change of culture in our communities. A continuance of this senseless
violence is unacceptable and the silence of anyone who refuses to speak about
violence should be treated as violence as well. We have to do more for our
children, communities and the future of our city. The deaths of our babies
should touch the heart and soul of every Baltimorean and those who don't feel
touched should take a serious look in the mirror. Everyone in Baltimore can and
must do something to make their community a better place. I was honored to have
so many women, children and men from different communities, different races and backgrounds join the 300MenMarch Movement for our Anti Violence Rally. We
must continue to occupy our neighborhoods and take back our streets so that we
can take back our communities. Sincerely,
Councilman Brandon M. Scott
2nd District - Baltimore City Council

Recently, Councilman Scott partnered with Dream Girls Mentoring to host the Dream for Success Back to School Block Party. This was a great event! Members of the community were able to enjoy free food, free entertainment, and we gave away several hundred book bags! Getting our young people ready for school is so important and we look forward to hosting this event next year!

Recently, Councilman Scott was able to attend the Community Back to School Fair at Northeast Middle School. It's vital that we come together as a community to ensure that our students excel in school. It takes a village to raise a child and when it comes to the education of a child it is highly important that the parents, teachers, principals, counselors, students, etc. are working together. We wish Northeast the best during this school year and encourage students across the city of Baltimore to do well! |
