Welcome to "A Second Look"
Dear Leaders,
The beginning of another school year is upon us. Each new
school year provides us all with the opportunity to make an impact in the lives
of our young people. Over the past few weeks individuals and groups alike have
come together to show support for Baltimore’s Youth as they return to school.
The city has been full of back to school block parties, rallies, school supply
drives and other events built on providing the necessary resources for our
students. I ask that each and every one of you make the time to spend at least
one day a month in your local school. Our students need support from the entire
community in order to reach their full potential. Spending time with our young
people is one of the most rewarding parts of my duties and I would bet that you
will enjoy it just as much as I do. Together we can make this school year the best
yet! Please join me in wishing our students, faculty and parents a wonder new
year.
Sincerely,
Councilman Brandon M. Scott 2nd District - Baltimore City Council
Throughout the summer, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings Blake in partnership with the Baltimore City Youth Commission has hosted a number of Youth Bmore Summer Block Parties. We had a great time last night as we gave out free food, free book bags and enjoyed some great entertainment. In order to support our youth we must continue to provide activities for them that will allow them to have fun and just enjoy their time as youth.

Recently, I was honored to host a special session of the campaign on gun violence for the Intersection's Listening Campaign. Student leaders from The Intersection have spoken with over 400 teachers, students, leaders and community members throughout Baltimore City to hear their insights on gun violence and capture their opinions on what can be done to reduce gun violence in the city. I love supporting young people who are working to change their city for the better. I look forward to working with this great outstanding group of intelligent young people in the future!
