Baltimore City CoC, MOHS Welcome New Chair and Vice Chair
Recently, Baltimore City CoC and MOHS announced that Community Housing Associates President & CEO Nico Sanders (pictured left) will serve as chair and The Nolita Project Co-Founder & Director Jamal Turner will serve as vice chair of the Baltimore City CoC. Together, the duo will work to advance the mission of the Baltimore City CoC by fostering collaboration, increasing access to resources, and improving outcomes for people of all ages who experience homelessness in Baltimore.

MOHS Spreads Love to the Community on Valentine's Day
The Community Love Day resource event was held on Friday, February 14, 2025 at the Walbrook Branch of the Enoch Pratt Free Library. Nonprofits, community-based organizations, and City agencies including the Mayor’s Office of Community Affairs (MOCA) came together to spread love to the community through engagement and resource distribution.
City of Baltimore Hosts First-Ever Black History Month Parade
The City of Baltimore successfully held the first-ever Black History Month Parade which kicked off in Baltimore’s Downtown corridor along Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. The City’s first Black female City Solicitor Ebony Thompson served as the parade’s Grand Marshal.

2025 CIAA Tournament Week Officially Kicks Off in Baltimore
Mark your calendars! The 2025 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament will be held at the CFG Bank Arena in Downtown Baltimore kicks off on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 through Saturday, March 1, 2025.
MOAAA to Host Black History Celebration for Older Adults
The recently formed Mayor’s Office of Older Adult Affairs and Advocacy will host a Black History Month celebration and resource fair for older adults on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Waxter Senior Center at 1000 Cathedral St., Baltimore, MD 21201. The celebration will feature performances from local talent and other entertainment.

This month, we want to raise awareness of the challenges faced by young people experiencing housing insecurity. YAB's youth resource guide is a one stop shop for vital resources available to Baltimore youth ages 18-24.

The CoC uses Member365 to manage communication, committees, voting, and more. Those interested in becoming a CoC member can either register as an agency or individual (please review details carefully).
Important Dates
CoC General Meeting: Thursday, March 20, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Helping Up Mission (1029 E. Baltimore St., 21201). This will be the last day of the CoC Board Member election and both CoC and MOHS staff will be on site to assist.

As we continue to navigate this unprecedented season with multiple Executive Orders attempting to negatively impact the clients we serve, I am encouraged by each of you, your teams, your organizations and your willingness to advocate for our most vulnerable clients and taking every possible step to ensure we can continue to provide permanent supportive housing to clients in Baltimore City. MOHS remains committed to supporting your organizations as we continue to navigate these challenging times in partnership with each of you.
As a reminder, the Code Purple winter shelter season ends on Monday, March 31, 2025 and residents in need of shelter should contact the Baltimore City Shelter Hotline at 443-984-9540 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. During Code Purple winter shelter activation, the hours of the Baltimore City Shelter Hotline are extended to 9:00 p.m. For assistance after 9:00 p.m., residents should call 443-695-7378. I encourage you to stay up-to-date on Code Purple Declarations through social media @baltimoremohs or on our website at https://homeless.baltimorecity.gov/winter-shelter.
