BALTIMORE, MD (Thursday, January 25, 2024) – Today, Mayor Brandon M. Scott announced the appointment of Stefanie Mavronis as permanent Director for the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement (MONSE) effective immediately. In this role, Mavronis will continue MONSE’s work to implement holistic, evidence-based strategies to prevent violence and build accountability across interagency partners.
“Stefanie has proven herself to be a passionate, effective public servant. She has been a key part of our comprehensive approach to public safety since the beginning. She understands the importance of addressing violence as a public health issue and knows that all of Baltimore has a role to play in building real, long-term public safety,” said Mayor Brandon M. Scott. “She has my full confidence that she will continue to excel as MONSE’s permanent Director.”
Mavronis has been serving as Interim Director for the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement (MONSE) and previously served as the agency’s Chief of Staff where she supported the day-to-day operations of the agency. "As someone with a deep love for Baltimore, I am honored to serve in this capacity and double-down on the work to reduce the crisis levels of gun violence that have persisted for generations in this city," said Mavronis. "Together, with the team of committed public servants that make up the MONSE team, we will stay focused on plan implementation and sustainability, community collaboration, and scaling our evidence-based work for a safer Baltimore."
Prior to her roles within MONSE, Stefanie served as Deputy Director of Communication for Mayor Brandon M. Scott and Acting Director of Communication during his first 90 days in office.
