Baltimore’s Continuum of Care Seeks Volunteers to Complete Two-Day Count of the City’s Unsheltered Population
The Mayor’s Office of Homeless Services (MOHS) and Baltimore’s Continuum of Care (CoC) announce that Baltimore City will conduct its Point-In-Time (PIT) Count of people experiencing homelessness on the evenings of Sunday, January 21 and Monday, January 22, 2024. The PIT Count seeks to count and survey all Baltimoreans sleeping and sheltering in places not meant for human habitation on a given night; the CoC is seeking volunteers to help canvass on the nights of the count. Click here to learn more about this opportunity and to register as a volunteer for the 2024 PIT Count.
The PIT Count is important because it helps the City identify and connect individuals, families, and youth experiencing homelessness to much-needed housing and support services. Also, the results from the count inform policy and provide critical data that helps Baltimore City access vital Federal and State homeless services resources. The 2023 PIT Report is available on MOHS’ website and highlights data from the last count conducted in Baltimore City.
Small groups of volunteers, led by an experienced homeless service provider, will canvass Baltimore City streets and outdoor locations to survey individuals experiencing homelessness. If you’d like to volunteer, register at bit.ly/Bmore2024PIT or scan the QR code below. All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and are required to participate in mandatory, virtual training sessions. Registration for this opportunity closes on January 5, 2024.
