COVID-19 Updates
Booster dose updates
CDC now recommends that everyone 12 years and older get a booster dose. Everyone 12 years and older can get a Pfizer booster dose 5 months after their second dose. Everyone 18 and older can get a booster dose 6 months after their second dose of Moderna or Pfizer, or 2 months after their single Johnson & Johnson dose.  At-home COVID-19 test kits and masks at the Pratt Library
In partnership with the Baltimore City Health Department, the Pratt Library is offering a limited number of COVID-19 at-home rapid testing kits and KN95 masks, available while supplies last. Test kits and masks can be picked up at Pratt Library locations during operating hours. Each adult or minor accompanied by an adult can pick up 2 tests and one pack of 5 masks. Order free, at-home test kits
Every home in the U.S. is now eligible to order 4 completely free at-home COVID-19 tests per residential address. Orders will usually ship in 7-12 days. To place an order, all you need is your name and residential address. No ID, credit card, or health insurance information is required. Order your tests now at covidtests.gov (website available in English, Spanish, and Chinese) so you have them when you need them.
COVID-19 rapid test kits for community organizations in Baltimore City
Baltimore City Health Department (BCHD) has a new process for community-based organizations (CBO) interested in distributing test kits to members of the public. BCHD anticipates selecting up to 30 community-based organizations. This replaces the previous CBO request process. Applications are due Wednesday, February 9 2022 by midnight. COVID-19 Vaccines
All Baltimore City residents age 5 and above are eligible for vaccination! To register for the vaccine, visit covax.baltimore city.gov, available in English and Spanish. Spanish speakers can call and/or leave a voicemail with the Esperanza Center (667-600-2314) to sign up for a vaccine appointment. If you leave a voicemail, you will get a call back within 24-48 hours. Speakers of all other languages can text or leave a voicemail with the International Rescue Committee (571-412-1202).

Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics at Port Discovery
Eligible children and adults can get a free Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination or booster at Port Discovery Children’s Museum and receive a free ticket to play at Port Discovery Children’s Museum! Find more information on this flyer or at portdiscovery.org/vaxclinics.

City Services Updates
Due to COVID-19, some city services are changing. To view the current status of city services, visit baltimorecity.gov/servicestatus.
Recycling collection update
The Department of Public Works is now collecting recycling every other week, instead of weekly. Your recycling collection week will depend on your residential address. However, the day of the week when your recycling is collected will stay the same. This modified schedule will remain in effect until further notice. Weekly trash collections will not be changed by this new recycling schedule. To find your recycling pick up day and week, click bit.ly/modifiedrecycling. Free tax preparation from the CASH Campaign of Maryland
If you or your family earned less than $58,000 in 2021, you may qualify for free tax preparation from the CASH Campaign of Maryland. Call (410) 234-8008 M-F, 9am-2pm to schedule. Centro SOL Youth Programs VISTA
Centro SOL is currently hiring for an AmeriCorps VISTA position to build capacity for its youth programs. AmeriCorps VISTA members are full-time, paid national service members, who serve with an organization for a one-year term. After completing their term, VISTAs earn an education award that can be used to pay current educational expenses or to repay qualified student loans. YouthWorks connects people between the ages of 14 and 21 to paid summer jobs with employers throughout Baltimore. The application for the 2022 program is now open until April 1, 2022. ¡Viva Baltimore!
¡Viva Baltimore! is a 4-part Facebook Live series hosted by the Southeast Community Development Corporation (Southeast CDC) that educates and empowers Latinos to become homeowners. These free events, in Spanish only, will give viewers the opportunity to get advice about the homeownership process from renowned real estate, financial, and mortgage experts. The remaining sessions will take place in Spanish only on the following dates:

GED and English Classes at the Adult Learning Center (ALC)
Strong City Baltimore’s ALC provides low-cost GED exam preparation and English classes in the mornings and evenings, with no documentation required. You can find more information on Strong City Baltimore’s flyer or website.
Community ESL Classes at Baltimore City Community College (BCCC)

Operation Warm - Coat Giveaway Enoch Pratt Free Libraries
Pratt libraries are partnering with Operation Warm to distribute warm winter coats in children's sizes (toddler through teen). These coats are brand new and absolutely free. Coats are distributed on a first come, first serve basis.

National Happenings
New legislation related to those recently arriving from Afghanistan is currently being proposed. One proposal, the Afghan Adjustment Act, would offer Afghan refugees arriving with humanitarian parole the chance to apply for lawful permanent resident status, the same status they would have received if they had arrived as refugees.
