DPW Holiday Schedule: X-Mas Tree Mulching & Curbside Collection Start
Trash, Recycling Will be Collected on New Year’s Eve

Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Director Jason W. Mitchell announced today that residents will be able to recycle their Christmas trees by turning them into mulch. 

DPW will offer free tree mulching services to Baltimore City residents from Monday, January 3, 2022through Saturday, February 5, 2022.  Tree mulching is a drop-off event.  Residents must bring their trees to the Northwest Residential Drop-off  Center, located at 2840 Sisson Street, from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.   Please make sure that all ornaments, tinsel and other decoration have been removed from your tree prior to mulching.  Residents should bring bags or containers to collect mulch for their own use.

Curbside Tree Collection
For residents who cannot bring their tree for mulching, DPW will offer curbside tree collection starting now through February 5.  Trees should be set out on your regularly scheduled trash collection day and at the same location that your trash is collected.  Please remove ornaments, tinsel and other decoration before your tree is set out for curbside collection.

REMINDER: New Year’s Trash, Recycling Collection
On New Year’s Eve, trash and recycling collections will take place on their normal Friday schedule. DPW’s Sanitation Yards will remain OPEN on New Year’s Eve. DPW offices will be closed New Year’s Eve, Friday, December 31.

On New Year’s Day, Saturday, January 1, 2022, DPW’s Sanitation Yards will be CLOSED.

The Sanitation Yard facilities closed on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2022, to residents and haulers include:

  • Northwest Transfer Station, 5030 Reisterstown Road
  • Quarantine Road Landfill, 6100 Quarantine Road
  • Northwest Residential Drop-off Center, 2840 Sisson Street
  • Southwestern Residential Drop-off Center, 701 Reedbird Avenue
  • Eastern Residential Drop-off Center, 6101 Bowleys Lane
