DPW Cancels Thursday’s Trash, Recycling Collections
Make-Up Day: Saturday, February 20

With snow in the forecast, the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Acting Director Matthew W. Garbark has announced the cancellation of trash and recycling collections for Thursday, February 18. The make-up day for the Thursday collection cancellation is Saturday, February 20.

In addition, due to the expected inclement weather, the following DPW facilities will be CLOSED:

  • Northwest Citizens' Convenience Center, 2840 Sisson Street
  • Southwestern Citizens’ Convenience Center, 701 Reedbird Avenue
  • Eastern Citizens’ Convenience Center, 6101 Bowleys Lane

The following DPW facilities will remain OPEN:

  • The Northwest Transfer Station, 5030 Reisterstown Road
  • Quarantine Road Landfill, 6100 Quarantine Road.

Snow and ice make many residential streets and alleys impassable, Solid Waste trucks cannot run their routes. In addition, drivers are often called on to help the City’s Department of Transportation to plow and clear the roads.

Residents are reminded of the need to keep trash in bags and secured inside durable trash cans with tight-fitting lids.

Please Clear Storm Drains!

Residents are also reminded of the importance of locating and clearing the storm drains in their streets and alleys. As temperatures rise above freezing and the snow melts during daylight hours, the stormwater system can only drain water away only if the inlets are kept open. Please also make sure hydrants are clear of snow and accessible.

For water emergencies in Baltimore City, please call 311 or 410-396-5352 in our Baltimore County service area.
