Keeping You Informed

As the City of Baltimore continues to respond to COVID-19, the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs (MIMA) is working to ensure that critical information is available in multiple languages. For multilingual up-to-date information regarding the city’s response, follow us on Facebook

Below you will find the English version of MIMA's multilingual biweekly update with information regarding services impacted by COVID-19 and resources available to community members. 


COVID-19 Vaccination in Baltimore City

Vaccination for COVID-19 is happening in Baltimore City! The State has announced that anyone in groups 1A, 1B, and 1C is eligible for vaccination. Please visit the City’s official COVID vaccine rollout website to stay up to date on vaccine availability.

The below COVID-19 vaccine information is now available in Spanish, French, Mandarin, Korean, & Arabic. Please share this information so that all Baltimoreans are prepared to receive the vaccine when available.

What's New This Week?

BDC Grant Opportunity English

Grant Opportunity for Baltimore City Restaurants, Cafes, Bars, Taverns, and Breweries

Business can apply until February 19th at 11:59PM. The minimum grant amount is $10,000, and the maximum grant amount is $50,000. Business owners with ITIN numbers are eligible to apply. Check out the terms and conditions for more information and apply here

February produce and mixed grocery box distribution schedules are available now!

Visit MIMA’s Facebook page for produce and mixed grocery box distribution schedules in English, Spanish, French, Mandarin, Korean and Arabic. 

Sign-in sheet and flyers for restaurants

While indoor and outdoor dining are reopening, time is limited to 1 hour, and restaurants must keep a sign-in sheet for contact tracing purposes. You can download printable PDF versions of signs reminding customers of the current regulations in English & Spanish, and sign-in sheets, as required by the Mayor's Executive Order, are also available in English & Spanish for use by restaurants.

Outdoor Dining Street Closure Program

Restaurants can now submit applications for the Outdoor Dining and Street Closure program! This program allows for restaurants to receive reimbursement for City and State Fees associated with outdoor table service. Applicants must provide their contact information, vendor W-9, applicable fee invoices, and proof of payment. The online rebate submission form is now live on the Baltimore Civic Fund website: baltimorecivicfund.org

Looking to volunteer virtually? Do you have language skills?

MIMA is looking for volunteers to virtually assist community members with signing up for the COVID vaccine. Volunteers should expect to spend 15-20 minutes assisting each community member. Sign up to volunteer at bit.ly/MIMAvolunteer

MIMA welcomes Cesia Calero!

Cesia joins the MIMA team as a Featherstone Corporate Internship Fellow. She is currently in her last semester at the University of Baltimore where she studies psychology with a minor in philosophy. Cesia is a native of El Salvador and moved to Baltimore with her family at the age of six. Due to her roots, she is passionate about the safety and well-being of the immigrant community. Cesia will be taking on the role of Volunteer Program Coordinator and hopes to continue to strengthen MIMA’s volunteer program and ultimately help the immigrant community through these difficult times with COVID-19. She is excited to be working at MIMA and with community partners to help serve Baltimore’s immigrant communities. We are so excited to have Cesia on the MIMA team!


Job Opportunities

 

Housing Coordinator (Bilingual- English/Spanish), Southeast Community Development Corporation

The Housing Coordinator provides support to the Case Manager and eviction prevention program by building relationships with and recruiting landlords to participate in the program. The housing coordinator is also responsible for ensuring the completion of a housing inspection and lead screening worksheet for every landlord participating in the program. The housing coordinator will work with the Baltimore City Community Action Partnership (BCCAP), which is providing financial and legal support to prevent eviction for residents living in Baltimore City. Fluency in English and Spanish is a must. For more information on the opening, click here. Case Manager (Bilingual- English/Spanish), Southeast Community Development Corporation

The Case Manager provides support to families at risk of losing their home because of unpaid rent. The Case Manager will work closely with the Baltimore City Community Action Partnership (BCCAP), which is providing financial and legal support to prevent eviction for residents living in Baltimore City. The Case Manager will work mostly with a Spanish-speaking population. Fluency in English and Spanish is a must. For more information on the opening, click here. Tenant Services Coordinator (Bilingual- English/Spanish), Latino Economic Development Center

LEDC seeks a Bilingual Tenants Services Coordinator to assist Baltimore City's low-to-moderate income residents in achieving stable housing and self-sufficiency. The Bilingual Tenants Services Coordinator will be responsible for the following: meet with residents and assist them in identifying services needed to resolve problems and achieve personal goals. They will also provide information and referral assistance so that residents can access services and resources including: educational and job training opportunities, healthcare and personal support services, personal finance, and budgeting information. The position also requires maintenance of records and compilation of data and information to document results and to comply with reporting requirements. See the full job description here
