As the City of Baltimore continues to respond to COVID-19, the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs (MIMA) is working to ensure that critical information is available in multiple languages. For multilingual up-to-date information regarding the city’s response, follow us on Facebook

What's New This Week?

English Recycling update

 Recycling Remains Suspended

Community Collection Centers will be open on Saturdays from 8am-2pm in addition to weekday hours. For more information and to find a Community Collection Center near you, visit bit.ly/bmorerecycles. The graphic to the right is available in multiple languages via MIMA's Facebook page

Baltimore City Announces New Restrictions due to COVID-19

Mayor Young announced new restrictions due to increased spread of COVID-19 effective November 12pm at 5pm. Indoor and outdoor gatherings are limited to 10 people. Event venues, religious venues, retail, personal service (barber shops, hair salons, nail salons), indoor and outdoor recreation facilities, fitness centers, casinos, theaters, outdoor entertainment venues and restaurants are capped at up to 25% maximum capacity. Mandatory Face Covering Order

All people age 2 or older are required to wear a face covering in all public spaces. This includes indoor and outdoor locations, regardless of whether or not social distancing is possible. For exceptions, click here to read the order.

Grant for Baltimore City restaurants affected by COVID-19

The Baltimore Development Corporation has announced a new grant program for restaurants in Baltimore City affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Applications will be accepted November 12 through November 24th. Grants will NOT be issued on a first-come-first-served basis. Visit baltimoretogether.com for more information and to apply.

Baltimore City Public Schools' Small Group Learning Sites

BCPS has released a list of schools that will open for Small Group Learning for prioritized students on November 9th and November 16th. Prioritized students are early or young learners, students with disabilities, kindergarten students, English learners, homeless students, students in grades 6 and 9, career and technical education students (CTE), and students who have not consistently participated in virtual classes for various reasons. Maryland COVID-19 Layoff Aversion Fund

Businesses experiencing hardship due to COVID-19 can apply for funding up to $50,000 from the Maryland Department of Labor to prevent future layoffs. Funds cannot be used for rent. Read more information and find the application here.

All sites are first-come-first-served and while supplies last. Must be 16 years or older to receive resources. No identification required to receive resources.  Emergency diaper hubs will be ending at the end of 2020, these are the second to last distributions.

Baltimore Non-Profit Relief Grant Application

Non profit organizations can apply to the Baltimore Non-Profit Relief Fund for reimbursement of unexpected costs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Requests for proposals for the fund is open now until November 20th at 11:59pm. 

The Baltimore Children’s Cabinet needs YOUR input on their Action Plan!

The focuses of the Baltimore Children’s Cabinet are early childhood, food insecurity, homelessness, literacy, trauma-informed care, youth diversion and success for Black boys & young men. Each topic has its own survey, fill out the ones you’re interested in having input on! Surveys are available in English and Spanish. Make your voice heard and fill out the surveys today! 

Eviction Prevention Fund

Tenants and landlords are able to apply for funds to keep tenants in their homes. Unlicensed properties will be considered for funds on a case-by-case basis. Visit bmorechildren.com/eviction-prevention for more information on required documents, apply online here

People who usually do not file taxes may be eligible for the federal stimulus payment!

Complete this online form with the IRS by November 21st. The form has to be completed online – there is no paper form – and people without bank accounts will receive a debit card or check in the mail. Read more information about the CARES Act relief payments in English and Spanish

The Baltimore City Community College (BCCC) Department of English Language Services provides a range of English as a Second Language (ESL) Instruction, Citizenship Preparation Classes, and Refugee Youth Services. Office of the State’s Attorney- Community Liaison/Crime Strategies Unit (CSU)

The Office of the State’s Attorney is seeking to fill the position of Community Liaison/Crime Strategies Unit (CSU).  The position will report to the Chief of the Crime Strategies Unit. Latino Economic Development Corporation- Development/Proposal Manager

Qualified candidates must possess a diverse set of skills including excellent communication skills, grant writing, research/evaluation, and implementation of systems and processes. The Development/Proposal Manager will support the Chief of Development & Strategy in carrying out responsibilities related to individual and institutional donor fundraising. The Development/Proposal Manager will ensure that all fundraising processes are carried out in a timely and efficient manner in-house as the Chief of Development & Strategy focuses on external facing responsibilities and larger federal proposals. Baltimore Health Corps- Community Health Worker Supervisor (Spanish speaking)

The Community Health Worker (CHW) Supervisor will be a part of a team responding to the COVID-19 response at the Baltimore City Health Department (BCHD). Under general supervision by a direct manager, the CHW Supervisor will plan, conduct, and provide direction on how to identify and counsel people who have been exposed to the novel coronavirus. The CHW Supervisor will oversee CHWs who will be working as public health investigators whose duties include contact tracing, public health messaging, and any additional public health activities as assigned as part of the Baltimore City Health Department’s response to COVID-19.
