Keeping You Informed

As the City of Baltimore continues to respond to COVID-19, the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs (MIMA) is working to ensure that critical information is available in multiple languages. For multilingual up-to-date information regarding the city’s response, follow us on Facebook

Below you will find the English version of MIMA's multilingual biweekly update with information regarding services impacted by COVID-19 and resources available to community members. 


HH Awardees

Congratulations to the 2020 Mayor’s Hispanic Heritage Awardees!

Last Tuesday, October 20, Mayor Young & MIMA's Director, Catalina Rodriguez Lima, announced the recipients of this year's Hispanic Heritage Awards. You can view the full awards ceremony here.

This year's awardees include:

What's New This Week?

Baltimore Non-Profit Relief Grant Application

Non-profit organizations can apply to the Baltimore Non-Profit Relief Fund for reimbursement of unexpected costs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Requests for proposals for the fund will open on October 19th. Check out baltimorecivicfund.org/nonprofit-relief-fund for more details. 

Election Information

Early voting is from October 26th to November 2nd. Download a list of early voting sites in English or Spanish, or you can find the ballot drop box closest to you on this list (English or Spanish). If you plan to vote on election Day (November 3rd), find your polling place - English or Spanish.

Contact Tracing Survey Graphic

What do YOU think about contact tracing?

The Health Department and the Mayor's Office of Performance & Innovation want to know what Baltimore City residents think about contact tracing. If you have 10 minutes to spare, please take a moment to fill out their survey, and you will be entered in a raffle to win a Samsung tablet! Your contribution to this survey will inform future public messages related to Baltimore City's COVID-19 response.

Mayor Young is seeking candidates for the Baltimore City Board of School Commissioners

Board meetings are the second and fourth Tuesday of every month. Commissioners are appointed for three year terms of office and receive no financial compensation for their service on the Board. Candidates must be over the age of 18 and live in Baltimore City. Applications are due on November 25th. Find more information and apply here

The Eviction Prevention fund is now open for applications!

Tenants and landlords are able to apply for funds to keep tenants in their homes. Unlicensed properties will be considered for funds on a case-by-case basis. Visit bmorechildren.com/eviction-prevention for more information on required documents. Email eviction.prevention@baltimorecity.gov to request an application. 

Children's Cabinet Survey

The Baltimore Children’s Cabinet needs YOUR input on their Action Plan!

The focus areas of the Baltimore Children’s Cabinet are early childhood, food insecurity, homelessness, literacy, trauma-informed care, youth diversion, and success for Black boys & young men. Each topic has its own survey, and you can complete surveys for as many topic areas as interest you! Surveys are available in English and Spanish. Make your voice heard and fill out the surveys at bmorechildren.com/childrens-cabinet.

People who usually do not file taxes may be eligible for the federal stimulus payment 

Complete this online form with the IRS by November 21st. The form has to be completed online – there is no paper form – and people without bank accounts will receive a debit card or check in the mail. Read more information about the CARES Act relief payments in English and Spanish

Latino Economic Development Corporation- Development/Proposal Manager

Qualified candidates must possess a diverse set of skills including excellent communication skills, grant writing, research/evaluation, and implementation of systems and processes. The Development/Proposal Manager will support the Chief of Development & Strategy in carrying out responsibilities related to individual and institutional donor fundraising. The Development/Proposal Manager will ensure that all fundraising processes are carried out in a timely and efficient manner in-house as the Chief of Development & Strategy focuses on external facing responsibilities and larger federal proposals. Baltimore Health Corps- Community Health Worker Supervisor (Spanish speaking)

The Community Health Worker (CHW) Supervisor will be a part of a team responding to the COVID-19 response at the Baltimore City Health Department (BCHD). Under general supervision by a direct manager, the CHW Supervisor will plan, conduct, and provide direction on how to identify and counsel people who have been exposed to the novel coronavirus. The CHW Supervisor will oversee CHWs who will be working as public health investigators whose duties include contact tracing, public health messaging, and any additional public health activities as assigned as part of the Baltimore City Health Department’s response to COVID-19.
