Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young, Department of Public Works Announce Additional Service Changes
Today, the Baltimore City Department of Public Works announced additional service changes, to take effect on Thursday, April 2.
Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young issued the following statement:
“Making these service changes helps us keep enough staff available to provide core services like collecting trash and recycling, delivering clean and healthy drinking water, and treating wastewater,” Mayor Young said. “Acting Director Matthew Garbark and the entire DPW are working around the clock to maintain core services, and the changes being made today support that mission.”
“These actions have not been taken lightly,” Acting Director Garbark said. “However, these changes are intended to promote social distancing and to ensure DPW maintains a healthy workforce to perform its core services.”
DPW’s changes, which will take place tomorrow, take into account Governor Larry Hogan’s Executive Order that requires residents to stay at home unless completing an essential activity. The following DPW service changes will take place, effective Thursday, April 2:
The following Citizen Drop-Off Centers will be closed to the public:
- Northwest Citizens’ Convenience Center located at 2840 Sisson Street;
- Eastern Citizens’ Convenience Center located at 6101 Bowleys Lane; and,
- Southwest Citizens’ Convenience Center located at 701 Reedbird Avenue.
The recreational area around Lake Montebello, which is a DPW facility, will be restricted as follows in order to promote social distancing:
- Exercise and play equipment will be closed.
- All motor vehicle traffic into the area and around the lake will be suspended. This action will ensure those people choosing to walk around the lake have more space to distance and will limit groups of individuals from traveling to the area.
