Call 311 to Register for the Mayor’s Fall Cleanup

Let's welcome in the fall season and make our neighborhoods sparkle by signing up for Mayor Catherine E. Pugh’s Annual Fall Cleanup. Every year, on behalf of the Mayor’s Office, DPW partners with fellow City agencies, including the Departments of Transportation and Recreation and Parks to help clean up our neighborhoods.

The Mayor’s Fall Cleanup is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27. To participate, residents should organize volunteers and then register their cleanup activity by calling 311. Please provide the cleanup location(s) and the anticipated numbers of participants when calling to sign up. Registered communities will receive bags to help with their cleanup efforts. DPW will provide cleanup debris removal.

Participants in the Mayor’s Fall Cleanup can earn $10 in credits toward their stormwater fee. Certificates and forms for the stormwater credit can be picked up by registrants when they come to collect bags for their cleanups.

Fall Yard Work: Make it Easy!

As the grass continues to grow and the leaves begin to fall, remember to grasscycle when doing your yard work. Grasscycling is easy, saves you time, and helps fertilize your lawn! Simply cut your grass and let it lie. Additionally, as the leaves begin to fall, mow them as well! No need to rake your leaves, simply go over them with your lawnmower - just like cutting your grass. Grasscycling and leaf mulching help your lawn as well as the Harbor, Chesapeake Bay, and other waterways by slowing runoff from rain. For more information on grasscycling, visit the our websiteIf you decide to bag your leaves, DPW will collect up to five bags of yard waste from your residence during weekly trash pick-ups and start scheduled leaf collection pick-ups on Oct. 29.
