DollarWise Innovation Grant

Last month, Mayor Pugh was awarded the 2018 DollarWise Innovation Grant during the 86th U.S. Conference of Mayors Winter Meeting. Baltimore was one of three cities to receive the award, thanks to MIMA’s proposal to integrate Baltimore City’s Community Action Partnership (CAP) financial literacy services with Baltimore City Community College’s English as a Second Language (ESL) curriculum. Under the proposal, CAP will provide sessions and one-on-one financial coaching to BCCC’s ESL students. In addition, the project will develop a series of PSAs tailored to English Language Learners in partnership with CharmTV to bring information into the homes and webpages of immigrants for whom English is not their first language.
