Cause of Death Released in Deadly House Fire

Friday, December 15, 2017 – (Baltimore, MD) – On Wednesday, December 13, the Baltimore City Fire Department responded to a fire in the 700 block of E. Coldspring Lane in N. Baltimore where a 2-story occupied dwelling was found to be filled with heavy smoke and fire on the first and second floor.

The home was occupied by an adult woman and two children who later perished at area hospitals. They have been identified as 26-year-old Alicia Evans, 5-year-old Amani Mullen and 4-year-old Layla Mullen. The State Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the cause of death for the deceased was due to thermal injuries and smoke inhalation.

"Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers continue to go out to the family during this difficult time," said Chief Niles R. Ford.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

So far this year, there have been 28 fire fatalities in Baltimore City.
