WOMAN DIES IN W. BALTIMORE HOUSE FIRE
February 24, 2017 - (Baltimore, MD) - Shortly
after 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 22, Baltimore City firefighters were
dispatched for a report of a house fire in the 1900 block of Edmondson Avenue
that claimed the life of a woman.
Upon arrival, firefighters were met with heavy smoke conditions on the first
floor of an occupied three-story middle of the group dwelling. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze. While firefighters conducted their preliminary search, they discovered an unresponsive woman in full arrest. She was transported to an area hospital for
further evaluation and treatment.
On
Thursday, February 23, at 3:54 p.m., the woman perished at an area hospital. The cause of death will be determined by the State Medical Examiner’s Office.
There were no reports of any other occupants inside the dwelling at the time of
the fire.
The woman was later identified as 57-year-old Miriam Wright.
The
cause of the fire is under investigation.
