BALTIMORE, Md. (March 10, 2016)—Today, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake announced that she is seeking dance video submissions from Baltimore City Public School students for an extraordinary opportunity to participate in an Alvin Ailey Master Class at the Modell Lyric. All active Baltimore Public City School students, boys and girls, are eligible to participate under two age-group categories (8-13 year olds and 14-18 year olds). A total of 30 students will be selected. This is a free program. Students are encouraged to submit a 90-second individual dance video showcasing their unique style. There is not restriction on genre of dance. From ballet to modern, to contemporary, tap, jazz, hip-hop or fun, pointe, open or even clogging – any form of dance will be considered. “I am so appreciative to Alvin Ailey for agreeing to host a master class during next month’s visit to the Modell Lyric,” Mayor Rawlings-Blake said. “This will be such a remarkable opportunity for a group of aspiring dancers in our public schools.” Dance videos along with the required application form can be submitted to MayorMondays@BaltimoreCity.gov. All submissions must be received no later than April 4, 2016. Winners will be announced April 18, 2016.
