Dear Leaders,

Phase III of the Snow Emergency plan has been lifted and the city has returned to Phase II. Please see below for more information. The snow has stopped falling, which allows crews to treat the plowed roads with salt but please remain off the roads today to allow crews space to work! Additional resources are arriving this morning to help with the snow removal efforts. The focus continues to be primary streets and gateways. Additional support will begin to work secondary streets today. If you have not seen snow removal crews remain patient and report it to 311. Crews will work steadily but this will be a process and will take time due to the historic amounts of snow. Our removal efforts will take days to complete. As you begin to dig out today remember to be careful and take your time. Shoveling snow is the equivalent of running miles so treat it as such. Remember please dial 911 for any emergencies and if you should lose power please report it to BGE at 1-877-778-2222. I have also included power outage and weather information below. Please stay in and be safe!

Power Outages
133 customers out in the city. Over 6,000 outages in the city have been restored throughout the duration of the storm.
Forecast
The temperature is 28 degrees and it is expected to drop to a low of 17 degrees. The winds are at 14 MPH with gusts of 22 MPH. The sky is clearing and the high today is expected to reach 31 degrees.

Thanks

Councilman Brandon M. Scott

Phase III of the Snow Emergency Plan to be Lifted in Baltimore City

BALTIMORE, MD (January 24, 2016) – Mayor Rawlings-Blake announced this morning that Phase III of Baltimore City's Snow Emergency Plan will be lifted at 6 a.m. on Sunday, January 24, 2016.

The Phase III designation was implemented on Saturday night due to worsening travel conditions and poor visibility. Roadways remain under Phase II of Baltimore City’s Snow Emergency Plan, and motorists are urged to remain off the roads as crews continue to work to clear snow from streets.

The Phase II designation means that all vehicles traveling in the city must be equipped with snow tires, all weather radial tires or snow chains, and parking is restricted along designated snow emergency routes.

Motorists should obey the posted snow route parking restrictions, as any vehicles that are parked along designated snow emergency routes will be relocated to ensure they do not hinder snow removal efforts. Drivers with questions concerning the location of their vehicles should call 311.

Additional parking remains available for residents in city-owned neighborhood garages free of charge on a first come, first served basis until 6 a.m. on Monday morning. Citizens may also park on certain Baltimore City Public School lots and designated stadium lots. Parking is also available on levels 5 and 6 of the Horseshoe Casino Garage. A complete list of these locations – as well as more information on the latest conditions – can be found at Snow.BaltimoreCity.gov.
