Decedent and Trooper Identified in Fatal Police Shooting in Carroll County

BALTIMORE, MD - The Independent Investigations Division of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General has identified the decedent and involved trooper in the fatal shooting that occurred on June 4, 2023, in Sykesville.

The decedent has been identified as 52-year-old Jack Cimino, Jr. of Sykesville.

The involved Maryland State Police trooper has been identified as Sergeant Jesse Hartsock. Sgt. Hartsock is a 15-year veteran assigned to the Field Operations Bureau.
