COVID Booster Shots
While the COVID-19 vaccines continue to be remarkably effective in reducing risk of severe disease, hospitalization, and death, even against the widely circulating Delta variant, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has said the protection provided by the vaccine could wane over time, especially among those at higher risk or who were vaccinated during earlier phases of the vaccination rollout. For that reason, a booster shot is needed to maximize vaccine-induced protection and prolong its durability. Certain individuals who received two doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months ago are eligible for a booster dose, including everyone over age 65 and people age 18-64 with underlying health conditions people aged 18-64 years who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of their occupational or institutional setting. The vaccine is widely available at local pharmacies and other locations. Please go to our website for information on where you can receive a booster COVID Information.
Westwood Private Well Regulations
Please be advised that this regulation requires that a water quality test be conducted and a copy of the results forwarded to the Board of Health office prior to a change in ownership of the property on which the private well is located. This applies to both drinking water and irrigation wells. Please refer to our website for the Private Well Regulations for more information on the required tests. If you have any questions please call Jared Orsini, Health Director (781) 320-1026.

December 1st – March 31st Overnight Parking Ban/Restrictions
Starting December 1st – March 31st, there is a Town wide overnight parking ban. In order to ensure snow plows can efficiently clear roads and emergency vehicles can quickly reach their destinations, it is imperative that you do not park on the street. The Public Works Assistant Director or the Chief of Police, for the purpose of removing or plowing snow, or removing ice, from any way, may remove or cause to be removed any vehicle interfering with such work. If you violate this ban you are subject to ticketing and towing. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Snow Removal Information and What You Can Do to Help
Snow Clearing and Clearing of Hydrants: Please do not lay, throw, place any snow or ice on any town street, sidewalk or on top of Hydrants as this can create a hazardous condition of public safety concern.
- 355-5 Placement of snow or ice; penalty.
- No person other than an employee in the service of the Town of Westwood or an employee in the service of an independent contractor acting for the Town of Westwood shall pile, push, plow, or blow snow or ice onto or across a public way which is plowed and/or sanded by the Town or deposit snow in such a way as to obstruct the operation of any fire hydrant. Storm Drain Cleaning:

Please remove all basketball hoops, sports nets, etc. from the roadway
Did you know that hurricane season does not end until November 30th?
Fall is actually the peak time for hurricanes to affect the New England area. Here are a few tips to help keep you and your family safe. Know your zone. Learn if you are in a hurricane evacuation zone. Make a Family Emergency Plan. Plan on how to stay in touch, where to go during an evacuation and what to bring. Build a kit. Include supplies that your family will need for 3 to 5 days. Remember to include water, non-perishable food and medications. Plan for power outages. Prepare your home. Take steps to prevent damage from wind and flooding. As always, make sure you have working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Prepare for pets and service animals. You can find more detailed information on what to do before, during and after a hurricane on the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) website at Mass.gov/MEMA.
Westwood Veterans Day Observance will be held on Thursday, 11 November 2021 at 11am in Veterans Park. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the COA.
