Monthly Focus:

Shredded Paper cannot be recycled, for at the facility it floats all over the place like confetti, or if gets wet, it turns into pulp.

Every town is different on recycling rules, however we try to follow state guidelines as much as possible (https://recyclesmartma.org/results-materials/#).  Thank you or doing your part and helping to stop recycling contamination in our town!

Hale Reservation

It’s still summer at Hale

Summer 2020 isn’t what anyone would have imagined.  With a shutdown of many months, some businesses, including camps and outdoor organizations, chose to remain closed leaving our community searching for viable recreational opportunities for the summer. Local outdoor camp and educational leader, Hale, recognized this and adapted to meet the need for safe outdoor resources.

Amidst a typical summer Hale hosts between 1,800-2,000 campers and hundreds of family per day, but due to busing restrictions and the need for physical distancing the property is only in use by about 200 families and campers at any one time this summer.

In June, Hale announced it would launch new programming for families and children for the summer.

Visitors have been able to sign up for blocks of time on the beach, reserve time at boating, and even take part in swimming lessons. Hale is also offering half- and full-day, week-long, drop-off camps for ages 4 and up with children participating in small, physically distanced but socially tight-knit groups, low camper-to-counselor ratios, and modified versions of classic activities.

Another welcome byproduct of not having the traditional summer programming is that pass-holders can still walk dogs at Hale. Normally, dog walking isn’t allowed on the property during the summer months given the increase in activity.

There is something for everyone with options which will allow visitors to choose how they want to participate including purchasing a $10 parking pass, a $75 Stick with Hale season-long parking permit, or a $200 Explore More activity pass which gives discounts on activities, access to special events, and early registration privileges.   With several weeks to go, there is still time to take part in the multitude of activities available for families and individuals at Hale. If you are interested, please visit hale1918.org/still-summer.

“During the pandemic, Hale went above and beyond to open the beach and activities and it gave us some semblance of a normal summer. We are so grateful for this amazing resource in our community!” - Laura G.

“I had a great time visiting Hale with my family last week! One morning my daughter and I explored the water on a kayak and a stand-up paddleboard, and we were able to pick blueberries right from our boats! Another day my family and I enjoyed dinner and an evening swim at South Beach. The staff were all wearing masks and were super helpful. We had a great time!” – Heidi S.
