2019 Annual Town Meeting Information

The Finance and Warrant Commission Recommendation and Report is a document that is required by the Town of Westwood bylaws.  The document is distributed to every household by mail in advance of Town Meeting.  This report includes, but is not limited to, the full warrant and the recommendation on each article.  The Finance and Warrant Commission recommendation is considered the main motion that will be taken up at Town Meeting.  A copy of the document is also posted on the Town’s website.

The report and recommendations may include additional information such as copies of the budget summary, appendixes related to articles, and information on Town Meeting Processes.

The 2019 Annual Town Meeting focuses on three major areas: finance, administration, zoning and planning.  The Town’s proposed FY20 proposed budget, including school and municipal operating budgets, fixed costs/benefits, debt services, and sewer costs.  A full detail of the proposed FY20 Budget can be found on our website:  Budget Information.

The legislative practice of Open Town Meeting is one of the purest forms of democratic governance.  In use for over 300 years, Open Town meeting gives residents a chance to voice their opinions and directly effect change in the community.  Here in Westwood, you can still make your voice heard when you and your neighbors join together to attend and participate in Town Meeting.  You can find all the information you need about Town Meeting on our website or by contacting the Select Board’s Office at 781-326-4172 or by email at selectboard@townhall.westwood.ma.us

We hope to see you at Town Meeting on May 6, 2019!

Sincerely,

Mikes sig

In honor of Earth Day, the Westwood Community Trails program is encouraging everyone to do their part for a town-wide cleanup during the week of April 21 - 27.  With over 80 parcels throughout town, there is surely somewhere close to your home that could use your help with clearing trash.  Bags and gloves will be available at Hale Reservation, 80 Carby Street, over the next two weeks. Participate individually or with a group (family, friends, scouts, sports teams, civic groups, religious groups, etc.). This is a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors while contributing to your community.
