Important Steps to Prepare
Please take the following steps to protect yourself, your family, and our community:
-
Stay off the roads: Conditions will create hazards for travel; please stay home and keep all vehicles off the road. Crews will be out before, during, and after the storm, and we need all roadways clear. In the event of an emergency, please call 911.
-
Charge Devices and Flashlights now: Make sure your mobile devices, flashlights, and all other necessary equipment are charged ahead of the storm just in case we lose power.
-
Have important phone numbers nearby on paper: Jot down the following phone numbers just in case your phone dies or you cannot access a computer:
-
Eversource: 800-592-2000
-
Emergencies (including downed electrical wires): Call 911
-
For non-emergencies, please contact Dedham Police Dispatch: 781-751-9300
-
Clear Hydrants and Storm Drains: After the storm has ended and if it is safe to do so, please help clear nearby storm drains and hydrants of snow and ice. This is critical for flood prevention and firefighter access during an emergency.
-
Check on your neighbors: Reach out to your neighbors, friends, and family who may need additional assistance, live alone, or may be nervous to make sure they are safe, prepared, and have what they need.
-
Help us clear sidewalks: After the storm has ended and if you are able to do so, please help us by clearing snow near your home or business. We appreciate any help you can provide and will be working around the clock to clear roadways and schools as quickly as possible.
-
Warming Center: We encourage everyone to stay home and off the roads, but if you are without heat or need a safe space to get out of the snow, a Warming Center will be open at the Public Safety Building throughout the storm from 8AM to 5PM.
We expect to have overnight parking bans throughout this week to allow for safe snow removal efforts when vehicles are least likely to be on the road. Please stay tuned for future announcements.
Our Commitment and Appreciation
All available equipment, staff, and contractors will be working as quickly as possible to clear and treat roads. We appreciate your patience as we respond to another storm this winter.
