New Financial Tools and Reports Available
The Town of Dedham is excited to share the release of three new financial tools designed to enhance transparency and help residents to understand more about municipal finance. These tools include the FY25 Adopted Budget Book, FY25 Budget Report for the 1st Quarter, and a Tax Impact Calculator, all available for use now. Also available on the Town website is the 1st Quarter Budget Report for the Dedham Public Schools.
- The FY25 Adopted Budget Book provides a comprehensive overview of Dedham’s financial plans and allocations for the fiscal year 2025. It includes detailed information on revenue sources, expenditure priorities, and takes a closer look at each Town Department to clearly identify services provided to the community, where money has been allocated, and also includes a list of past and future goals.
- The FY25 Budget Report for Q1 shares an overview of the Town’s revenues and expenditures across all departments, not including the Schools), from the start of the new fiscal year (July 1) to the end of the first quarter (September 30). This report is new for the Town of Dedham and was presented to the Select Board during the October 24 regularly scheduled meeting.
- In addition, the Tax Impact Calculator is a new informational tool to the Town of Dedham that has been designed to help residents and taxpayers estimate future tax bills, both with and without the proposed Oakdale Elementary School Building Project. (Now available on the Oakdale Project page!)
“We are always looking for new ways to share information with the community, especially as it relates to finances,” said Town Manager Leon Goodwin. “From feedback we have received during public meetings and from our conversations with residents around the community, we have heard that residents want more detail and more context to better understand how and where their tax dollars are being spent. It is our hope that the introduction of these news tools will help to take steps forward in promoting more transparency and helping to empower residents to engage in meaningful discussions about Dedham’s future.”
