Advisory: Cannon Volley and Helicopter Landing at Road Race Tomorrow
Please review the following information regarding scheduled events at the 11th Annual Run for the Fallen 5K Road Race on Saturday, September 14, 2024:
The Town is providing this message to alert residents to a military helicopter landing and cannon volley that will take place as part of the Massachusetts Run for the Fallen 5K Road Race on Saturday, September 14th at Barnes Memorial Field.
This year’s event will feature keynote speaker Brigadier General Paul Minor from the Massachusetts National Guard. After Brigadier General Minor’s remarks, and in keeping with proper protocol, there will be an 11-cannon volley between 10 and 11 am. A 12th and final volley will occur a short time later at the start of the road race around 11am.
Please be advised that the volleys will occur in rapid succession and the surrounding areas may experience loud booms and vibrations.
Thank you for your understanding as we honor and recognize our military service heroes.
Please Note: This message will also be distributed to the community through our CodeRed notification system in an effort to provide as much notice as possible of the additional noise and vibrations from the events.
